The journey to " GrayCat CycleWorx " began in my backyard with my dad's tools and my 20" bike with the banana seat , many years ago . Attention : spoiler alert - there aren't many dragons and only few wizards in this story  ! Soon I was wrenching on my friends bikes and got my first bike shop job when I was 15yo ( it was a lawnmower / fix bicycles place at west napolean and Transcontinental (if anyone remembers the name please let me know )).  I met my first mechanic wizard when I was 16-17 . He taught me about ALL of cycling . Over the next 15 years I  worked in several shops including Gus Betat and Joe's ( one day I'll write a book) . In 98 I moved to the Northshore and Playground Earth . We had one of the largest and most successful tri teams in the southeast . Moving to 2013 , I opened my first shop . I got I to this bicycle thing just as the 70's bike boom took off an had seen the i dusty go from 20"kids bikes to English racers to the advent of aluminum frames , witnessed the birth of mountain bikes and latter suspension forks . I was already working in the bike shop when several new brands started up , trek , specialized and an alloy company called Cannondale. Then came carbon fiber , forks at first but soon frames and components . Disc brakes got reinvented  ( had that in the 70's) and then electronic shifting again ( late 90's ) . Many things have gotten better and some just get reinvented but , the joy of riding has always been there and thats why I do this.
